Zephyr® is highly configurable, and EarthSense have the ability to configure Zephyrs for different uses entirely remotely from EarthSense HQ.
Normal mode | Low power mode | Support mode | Mobile mode | |
Sampling frequency | 60 seconds | 60 seconds | 10 seconds | 10 seconds |
Upload frequency | 15 minutes | 60 minutes | 100 seconds | On demand |
GPS frequency | Daily | Disabled | Disabled | Continuous |
Standard usage
Our default power mode optimises the Zephyr for an all-round static use-case. The unit records a measurement every 60 seconds, uploads its latest measurements every 15 minutes, and records GPS once per day.
Winter monitoring on solar power
For monitoring in the UK or a similar latitude region in winter, we may move the Zephyr to low power mode in winter to save battery in case we see consecutive overcast days and poor solar input.
Mobile monitoring
For mobile monitoring, we’d recommend some additional changes like constant GPS readings and less frequent uploads. If this is your use-case, please get in touch with our support team.
Rapid remote troubleshooting
If needed, we can enable support mode to facilitate fast resolution of any problems that come up. In this mode, Zephyr connects to our servers every 100 seconds, allowing us to interact with and receive answers from the Zephyr much more quickly than usual. This can also be very useful to check instrument health soon after installation.
