All Zephyr monitors operate on a replaceable cartridge system for all configurations, from the standard cartridge through to the enhanced cartridge suite. As part of our ongoing service pack, EarthSense replace cartridges as required to maintain sensitivity and accuracy of measurements
How will I know when to change the cartridge?
Cartridges are typically replaced around 18-24 months following installation, depending on the nature of the environment in which the unit is installed. EarthSense monitors the health and performance of the cartridge and will inform you when a cartridge replacement is required.
We will send your new cartridge in the post. These can be easily replaced using a 3mm hex key. The cartridge change instructions can be viewed on our Product Resources webpage or via a YouTube video. However, you are welcome to call us on +44 (0) 116 296 7460 and our support team will be happy to guide you through the process. Alternatively, we’d be happy to send out a technician to replace your cartridge on-site at an additional cost.
How do I change a cartridge?
- Take the Zephyr® out of sampling mode by holding down the button, releasing when the LED turns red.
- Put the Zephyr into into cartridge swap mode by pushing the button three times holding down on the final push. ‘push > push > push-hold’. When the LED gives one green flash release the button.
- Remove the old cartridge. Using the hex key, turn to loosen the screws of the cartridge and gently pull the cartridge out of its slot.
If you are working in the field or on a ladder at height, ensure you have one hand on the cartridge when it is loosened to prevent it from falling out.
- Insert the new cartridge into the now empty slot. Using the hex key, tighten up the screws to secure the new cartridge in place.
- Take the Zephyr out of cartridge swap mode following the ‘push-push-push-hold’ command. You should expect to see one blue flash followed by either one green flash to signify a cartridge detected in slot B, or one red flash to signify an empty slot B. This will be followed by two blue flashes to show the Zephyr is now reporting slot A’s status, followed by green for detected and red for undetected or empty.
- Return the old cartridge/s to EarthSense. We aim to recycle at least 85% of our cartridges so please send us your old one in the post to: Space Park Leicester, 92 Corporation Road, Leicester, LE4 5SP, UK. We are happy to arrange a courier collection for you.
